Dreamweaver CS5 for Mac loses site FTP logins - a solution

Dreamweaver CS5 for Mac loses site FTP logins - a solution

For months now I've been frustrated by a really annoying bug in Dreamweaver CS 5 Mac. For some sites it just refuses to remember FTP logins, whilst for others it keeps them fine. So each time I fire up Dreamweaver and need to upload a file for the first time on an affected site I have to go to the "Manage Sites" dialogue box and re-enter the FTP username and password. For the rest of that session it will work OK, but as soon as I quit Dreamweaver and restart it, the FTP login is lost... Read more »

Printer sharing in OS X Lion - a fix for Windows PCs

Printer sharing in OS X Lion - a fix for Windows PCs

After upgrading to Mac OS X Lion, I found that printers connected directly to the Mac could not be accessed from Windows 7 over the network. The networked printers on Windows 7 were originally setup previously when the Mac was running OS X Snow Leopard - they could still be seen, but any print jobs sent through would not print, and just sat in the print queue with no visible status. Searching Google revealed that OS X Lion doesn't support printer sharing to Windows, however, Apple has a free program... Read more »

Photoshop CS5 crashes after upgrading to Mac OS X Lion - Solution

Photoshop CS5 crashes after upgrading to Mac OS X Lion - Solution

After upgrading to Max OS X Lion I found that each time I opened a file in Photoshop CS5 it would crash just moments later. I also noticed that if I created a new file in Photoshop, and then reopened that file, it would not crash. I did the usual Google searches for an answer but nothing I found seemed to help. I tried disabling OpenGL in the Photoshop preferences in case it was a video driver issue (that seemed to be the most popular suggestion I found) - but it made no difference. After lots... 3 Quick Mac OS X Keyboard Tips for Windows Users

3 Quick Mac OS X Keyboard Tips for Windows Users

After being a Windows user for many years, switching to Mac OS X was quite a daunting prospect. But I needn't have worried - it was far easier than I expected. However, there were a few missing keys that threw me for a while: Where on earth is the # key? I couldn't believe that standard Mac keyboards just didn't have the # key anywhere! Maybe it's not such a big deal for many people, but for any programmer or developer it's a very commonly used character. Well here's the solution: just press... Read more »
