A domain name is the address of your website. Typically, it will be your brand or company name followed by .com or .co.uk (for example, our domain name is somethingdigital.co.uk). Increasingly though - as domain names must be unique and many millions have already been registered - organisations are having to become more creative in the choice of their domain names.
This depends very much on your particular circumstances, but generally speaking, domain names should be as simple and short as possible. We often help our clients choose their domain name, and we can usually offer some new ideas if your most obvious choices are unavailable.
Simple! You just register your domain with the relevant naming authority, or a 3rd party registrar can do this for you (usually at a much reduced cost). Registration fees vary depending on the type of domain, but they're usually less than £20/year for the most popular types. If you prefer, we can arrange all this for you.
If you've registered your domain yourself, you will be notified by your registrar a few weeks before your renewal date. You must pay the renewal fee for as long as you wish to keep the domain registered. If the registration lapses, your domain will become available for anyone else to register. If we register your domain for you, we'll automatically keep it renewed so that you don't have to worry about it.
